- and many MANY more!
MASSAGE MODALITIES DEFINED
Neuromuscular Therapy(NMT), sometimes called Deep Tissue massage, is at the heart of integrative therapeutic massage. It is a type of bodywork that focuses on very specific injuries or trauma for pain management, rehabilitation, and prevention. NMT uses assessment techniques, such as postural/structural analysis and observed range of motion (ROM) restrictions, to determine the cause of discomfort and come up with a plan to address it. NMT may include the use of myofascial release/cupping, and/or IASTM to promote the normalization of soft-tissue following any type of injury.
Shiatsu – Also called Acupressure, is a form of Japanese bodywork based on the concepts of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) such as the use of the chi meridians in acupuncture. This form of massage is used to treat symptoms and maladies through applying pressure using fingers and palms to specific pressure points in order to restore the flow of Ki energy throughout the meridian system of the body.
Swedish Relaxation Massage – Is the most well known type of massage in the West, and the foundation for most other types of bodywork. Swedish style techniques, typically involving somewhat gentle long gliding strokes, are often used to warm-up the musculature and prepare the soft tissue for other types of massage such as NMT, myofascial release, trigger point therapy, and more. This is a great singular treatment for people who suffer from sore muscles and/or just need to relax in order to combat the woes of existing in a high stress world.
Cranio-Sacral Therapy – A gentle holistic hands-on treatment used to balance the craniosacral system of the body which include the bones, fluids, nerves, and connective tissue of the cranium and spinal area. CST techniques use gentle palpation of the synarthrodial joints of the cranium and spinal cord, followed by a focus on manipulation of membranes and cerebrospinal fluid surrounding the brain and spinal column in order to treat pain from spine related dysfunctions by releasing restrictions to improve the overall functioning of the central nervous system. This is a wonderful treatment for people who suffer from headaches, spinal cord injuries, or an overactive nervous system caused by high stress or acute physical or psychological trauma.

Cupping Therapy – Created and originally used in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) and involves the use of pressurized cups, both active (gliding over specific areas of the body) and passive (stationary), to remove stagnation and encourage the flow of Ki (Qi/Chi) in the body. In my practice, I often use cupping to facilitate myofascial release called myofascial cupping therapy. Physiological effects and benefits include: relief from pain and inflammation, release of deep muscular adhesions and scar tissue, increased blood flow, increased range of motion in a restricted area to promote normalization of soft-tissue injury.
IASTM (Instrument Assisted Soft-Tissue Mobilization) – May also be called ASTYM, Gua Sha, Coining, Spooning, or Graston – This therapy involves the use of special instruments and techniques on soft-tissue surrounding a specific injury to promote healing.
Between the layers of muscle, skin, and bone, there are layers of fibrous connective tissue called fascia, which primarily consists of collagen fibers which are designed to stabilize and allow flexibility of tissues such as muscles and ligaments. When injury occurs, fibroblasts lay down more collagen and increase the density of the fibers, creating adhesions or scar tissue. This in turn creates limited ROM (range of motion) of the muscles, joints, and connective tissues surrounding the area of injury. IASTM can help loosen and release fascial adhesions. The tools are used to stretch, pull, and release fascial tissues which promote the movement of blood through capillary beds and the stimulation of neurologic pathways and reflexes, which affect muscle tone and mobility. Through mechanical stimulation, there is an increase in activity in cells such as fibroblasts, macrophages, and growth factors, and is proven to stimulate the body’s own healing response and promote the normalization of soft tissue.
Hot Stone – Adding hot stone to your session can be incredibly beneficial. The heat of the stone has the ability to deeply relax the central nervous system, while simultaneously softening the first several layers of muscle and connective tissue, allowing for some of the benefits of deep tissue (and relaxation) massage without the potential discomfort of deep pressure. Hot stones are great for easing stress, anxiety, and insomnia, while promoting pain relief and increased flexibility. Hot stone massage provides relief from pain associated with fibromyalgia, arthritis, and chronic pain conditions.
Face Massage & TMJ – I use all organic, non-comedogenic and hypo-allergenic face friendly cream or oil to work and uplift the muscles of the face and jaw. A “mechanical face-lift” is great to smooth out fine lines and release tension in and around the face. TMJ treatments may be performed both inner and outer-orally to treat muscles and connective tissue effected by TMJ syndrome, a condition caused by tension of the jaw and/or teeth grinding.
Ampcoil PEMF Therapy
Ampcoil is a Nikola Tesla technology based system that utilizes sound frequencies delivered via powerful PEMF(pulsed electromagnetic field) in order to restore the body to its natural electromagnetic frequency. This noninvasive device uses frequencies with varying intensity to restore the body’s cell systems to a healthy resonance.
Ampcoil PEMF sessions are offered hourly as a solitary treatment or as an add-on to a cranio-sacral and/or reflexology massage session.
For more information on the benefits of Ampcoil PEMF, visit the Ampcoil site at ampcoil.com or see the Facebook Ampcoil Reviews page at www.facebook.com/ampcoil/reviews
There are also countless Youtube testimonials where you can see what people are saying about their personal wellness journey using Ampcoil PEMF therapy.

Frequently Asked Questions
If you don’t find the answers you seek here, please feel free to reach out any time via the contact page, text or email.
A full body massage can be achieved in an hour. I can also address 1-2 problem areas in that time. However, if you have specific injuries or problem areas and also want the full body experience, I highly recommend booking a 90 minutes slot. An hour is really only enough time for one or the other: fully body or specific treatments.
As of now, payment happens at time of service. Cash or check is the easiest and preferred payment method. I am also on Venmo and the Apple CashApp.
If you have a health insurance benefit spending credit card, or would like to use any credit card, I can accept it using Square however there a small fee/add-on of $3.60-$6.00 (4% service fee).
All massage, with the exception of Shiatsu, is performed using a sheet draping method. Your personal areas will always be covered. Head, shoulders, arms, legs, and back will be exposed while the therapist works on those areas only. To date, I have never accidentally exposed someone. If the thought of being totally undressed makes you nervous, feel free to leave on underwear (many do!) or book a Shiatsu style session, where you will come fully dressed in loose fitting clothes.
Absolutely! I will talk to anyone about anything and our conversation will never leave the room. However, my hope is that you will eventually be able to get out of the alert beta brainwave state and go inward to a deeply meditative alpha, and then theta or even delta wave state in order to reset and rejuvenate the nervous system. Learn more about the different brainwaves here.
Most importantly, if you want to communicate anything about the session – such as the type of pressure being used or something you would like to focus on etc. – please don’t hold back!!! I want to hear it all.
We can listen to anything! I hate the idea that someone might be silently suffering/hating the audio aspect of this experience. I currently use Spotify so if you already have a playlist in mind, send it my way. You may also bring your phone and connect it to the bluetooth speaker if that’s easier. Bring your favorite relaxation station, or we can find something together that suits your taste and desire.
It’s best if you include anything you want me to know before the session in the “notes” section of the booking form. However, when you arrive we can chat about how you would like your session to go and any areas of specific focus etc.
All add-ons are available upon request except for hot stone. I USUALLY have them ready but if that’s something you really want, put it in the notes or even just send me a text before hand so I know the make them ready for you.
